Instead of the tired American Flag t-shirt that you wore 5 years ago on a family camping trip, try something fresh and fashionable this Independence Day! Ordinarily we see a lot of stars, stripes, and of course red, white and blue. However, if you steer away from the literal flag and use the trends of the season, you can achieve an inspired look.
All white is a fabulous trend this summer that is a perfect base for a remixed Fourth of July look. Try a white eyelet dress with some splashes of red or blue in the accessories. A necklace, belt, or head band would be the perfect choice. Add accessories that can be warn again for another occasion. Stay away from seasonal flag pieces. Just a small note of caution: Be careful not to get any ketchup on you new white dress!
Stripes are in this season as well, but instead of doing a red and white stripe why not do something a little different? A blue and white striped shirt hints at the flag and it is more wearable throughout the year. When you match it with another trend of the season, sailor pants, you have the perfect way of honoring the armed services while still keeping your sense of style in tact.
If red is your color, then we suggest doing it as a solid or another pattern other than stripes. Polka dots are a whimsical look that is perfect for a summer picnic. Plaid and check print are also hot this season and are appropriate for the occasion.
We have found the following looks from Forever 21 and Top Shop. Each piece can be mixed and matched to create 9 different looks!
