What To Wear To A Summer Wedding : Wedding Basics AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Wedding Basics:

  1. Never wear all white. This will always be seen as competition to the bride. If you are going with the summer trend of white eyelet dresses, make sure you accessorize with bright colors. For example; throw on a bold belt around the waist and coordinate with a necklace and shoes. Or wear a cute cardigan to add a splash of color.
  2. Pick appropriate shoes. There is nothing worse than a stiletto stuck in grass. So to avoid having to awkwardly balance on your toes all night, pick a thicker heel, wedge, or flat. This way, not only will you keep your Jimmy Choo's from being lawn ornaments, you will also be able to dance the night away with ease (and the cute best man).
  3. Keep the girls under control. Imagine, the time has come to catch the bouquet, you are determined to go home with the prize, and just as you jump up and reach with all your might, out pop your breasts. This is something I have seen happen and believe me, it was embarrassing for everyone! To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, please make sure you wear the proper under-garments. Also, try to avoid anything too revealing so you aren't distracting from the beauty of the ceremony.

A quick note on hair and make-up:

  • Remember that the humidity has a funny way of doing crazy things to hair. So give yourself a little extra time to tame your mane. Curls may fall and frizz may happen, be prepared to run with it.

  • If the wedding is outside, do you make-up outside. You want something light and natural. And of course water proof mascara and powder are our friends!
